Analysis and design of space frames with spherical node

The program collaborates with foreign software. Between this is RSTAB for verification and further analysis. When the program starts checks whether the licensed version 6.xx of RSTAB is installed and if so connected with it via COM.

Author's note:

There are a lot of companies specializing on the particular subject worldwide. Please note my professional advice: avoid Greek companies. Most of them are unreliable. You should especially avoid EVEL I. Dimopoulos it has had many failures. The collapse of the roof of the Coca-Cola factory in Athens was one of them.

Space Frame with Spherical Node

TrussSphereDrill Version 1.0 Copyright 2012 by Fotis Bizas

The space frame with spherical node is perhaps the most elegant steel construction. But the construction of the spherical node is critical. If the drilling of the spherical node is not done accurately, then the assembly will be difficult and unwanted initial strain will be added to the construction. I have worked for several years analyzing space frames, and concluded that the key to the reliability of the space frame is precision in the drilling of the spherical node. The theoretical considerations were not relevant if the drilling of the sphere is not done correctly. If so, the assembly of the space frame is from difficult to impossible. But even if the assembly is achieved, the overall structure is precarious because of the added initial strain situation due to the magnification and propagation of the error during assembly. The program TrussSphereDrill comes to solve the problem. It generates a CNC code for a machine with five axes (three transportational and two rotational) for the precise drilling of the sphere and for any geometry.
